Cuba :)

I just came back from Holguin, Cuba. And it is my pleasure to tell you all about the trip. Now, first and foremost- I'd like to let my readers know something. After this post, you won't be seeing long posts. I have decided to write more posts, but that are all shorter. I hope this decision pleases you. I find it is easier to read shorter posts, since you don't lose interest like you do in SUPER LONG posts. Now, back to my Cuban Christmas adventure.

Starting off with the basics. We stayed there for 7 days, and our resort was Sol Rio de Luna y Mares. It was a 4 star resort, and I loved every minute of my time in the Caribbeans. My brother, my 2 cousins, my mom, my aunt and uncle and I went. My dad isn't a fan of warm weather, or sun- So he decided to stay back with our dog, JJ. Our flight was 3 hours and 45 minutes. Afterwards, when we got to the international airport, we had an hour-long bus ride to the resort. We got there at midnight, I believe.

The first day was on Sunday. We had breakfast, and afterwards went to a meeting to learn all about the resort, and the extra trips offered. Let me talk about the food for a second. There was one major buffet restaurant located in the actual hotel. Then, there were many little bars and restaurants, where you order your food. Now, the food was simply amazing. I loved it! We ate so much! I won't even bother trying to explain the amazing quality of the food. The chefs were great. Now, back to the events. After the meeting, we went to the pool. Now, I'm not going to go describing each day to you. That would take way too long.

In general, we spent a lot of our time at the beach and the pool. The sand was really nice! It was white like flour, and smooth. My brother and I covered ourselves in sand from neck to toe. ;) It was so much fun! The sea was great, too! The first few days, there were lots of waves. My brother and I took advantage of it. We went a little deeper, and waited for the waves, each time, the wave would push us. It felt awesome. Unfortunately, though, the bigger waves would knock us down, and push us to the shore. So, as soon as we get up and open our mouth to breathe, another giant wave would knock us down again, and fill our mouth with water. The salt was disgusting. I liked the beach more, since the water was warmer. It was much more natural.

Also, I'd like to tell you all about how I went swimming with dolphins. The morning, we woke up, and had breakfast. At 9:00, a bus picked us up. The ride was fairly short- only 5 minutes. Then, we got onto a boat, and rode another 5 minutes. It was really nice weather, and we even saw jellyfish in the bay. Then, we had 20 minutes of petting the dolphins, and we all got 2 kisses from the dolphins. It was so much fun, they were adorable! We were in a group of 15 or so, and there were 2 dolphins: Via and Tornado. The people who went were: My brother, Cousin Dris, Uncle, and me. After the playing with dolphins, we could pay a tip to do an extra exercise with them. My uncle didn't know we needed that much money, so he didn't bring a lot. And since it was my cousin's birthday, my brother and I decided to let him go first. And when my uncle had enough money for one more, I let my brother go. But, we were lucky to get Dris' exercise free. So I had enough money to go, too. Dris and Ivan were simply pulled by the 2 dolphins. They put their hands around the fins, and the dolphins gave them a speedy ride. I, however, did something different. I was "standing" in the water, when they come from underneath the water, and one puts their mouth under one foot, and the other under the other foot. They lifted my out from the water, about 2 metres into the air. It was so much fun, but yet so freaky! I yelled, and eventually lost balance, tumbling into the water. :) It was a great experience. Afterwards, came the dolphin and sea lion show, both of which were very neat.

Now, Ivan and me made lots of new friends, too. For the FIRST time EVER, Ivan made more friends than me. I knew them all, but didn't consider them all actual friends. They were all from different parts of the world. There were 2 from Italy, 1 from England, 5 from Quebec, and 3 or so from Ontario. We gathered all their e-mails, and promised to stay in touch. Each night, we hung out at the billiard table, and the ping-pong table. We had lots and lots of fun.

Now, I hope if anything, that you see the fun of Cuba! The excitement, the thrill, and the beauty of the country. I really think everyone should go! It was one of my best vacations yet, and I am so glad I got to experience it with my family. I'm glad I got to see Cuba, meet new friends, and have a warm winter.

P.S. I made the Honour Roll this term! I am so proud of myself! It's when your overall grade average is over 80%. Meaning, an average of an A! I had an average of 82%. I worked hard, and I think I deserved it!

P.P.S. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Years! :D

My life as a 12-year old

Okay, yes, I admit I'm a little late. But, it doesn't matter. I have PLENTY to tell you.

Firstly, my birthday party. You guys better all know about Twilight. The #1 best-selling saga for a long time. The movies and the books are definitely sweeping North America! Well, the 2nd movie: New Moon was conveniently released only 5 days before my birthday. So, for my party, I decided to invite my friends to watch it together. And it was a great choice for a birthday party. New Moon was amazing! It was really funny, since each time you saw Taylor, or Robert, you'd hear everyone in the theatres screaming. It was a great movie. The graphics for the werewolves were very well done. And the new cast members were chosen very wisely. I loved Dakota Fanning, Cameron Bright, and the whole Volturi cast. As well as the Werewolf pack. I was satisfied. But, I realized when my mom mentioned it- There weren't enough scenes with the Cullens. And they are awesome! Oh, and before I finish off... I'd like to let you know that I read the whole collection (4 books) twice!! The pizza was great, as always, and the Dairy Queen cake was... Impeccable! I don't even have a word for it! It was sooo yummy!

Next, I'd love to tell you a little update on school. As busy as ever. Projects due, worksheets flying everywhere, lockers full, and teachers buzzing with information. You truly can't afford to miss a second of class. We got the report cards on November 30th, and I did really well. I got an average in the 80's. Not to brag... (Well, yeah, to brag) At the Student Led Conferences, my french teacher asked me if I was bored! Later, I understood why. He said I was the best in the class by a long shot, and that my French was impeccable. My English was fantastic, and the teacher loves me. Yes, since I'm good, but she's also the basketball coach, and I'm the basketball star. My math was really really really good! I got a 98 in one of the subjects. My highest mark. And I don't like math... My gym and health were awesome. Science, Geography, Media Literacy, and Art were great! My lowest mark was in music. (72.)

And lastly, there is only 5 days until Saturday. December 19th. It's my mom's birthday, for one. And I wish her a very jolly birthday! She deserves another great year since she's the best mom ever! And, since she's a twin, I wish another happy happy birthday to my aunt. "Obozavam te, Bico!" And, that is the first day of Christmas vacation. No more school for an entire 2 weeks. It's amazing! It's the second best time of year. Next to summer vacation, of course. Now, this year, it's a pleasure to tell all of you, that I'll be going to CUBA!!! I don't particularly enjoy the snow, so it's something to look forward to. A place WITHOUT snow, and with plenty of sun during the winter. Bathing and tanning in the winter. It's a dream come true. I am soo excited! I practically jumped for joy at the dentist's when I found out. We're going with my mom, my brother, my 2 cousins, my aunt, my uncle, and ME! My dad is staying behind, with my dog. He doesn't like the sun, contrary to everyone else. But at least he won't be lonely! He loves JJ! <3

P.S. For those of you who don't know, we got an Airedale Terrier almost a month ago. His name is JJ, and he's adorable. He's sweet, and super kind. He doesn't bite, and only barks rarely. We all adore him. His coat is tan, and black. His back is up to my knees.

Serenada Beogradu (Hor Kolibri)

Serenada Beogradu
(Žarko Petrović)
Beograd volim kad sviće,
Beograd volim kad spi
ja volim kad snegom obeli sav
volim ga kad dođe maj.

U njemu upoznah tebe,
kraj Save šetasmo mi
i u tom cveću tad zavoleh te,
ljubavni počeše sni.

Iz grada mog, kad odem ja,
koliko čeznem to srce mi zna
da tebe vidim, o grade moj,
i tvoje bašte, Bulevar tvoj...

Beograd volim kad sviće,
Beograd volim kad spi
ja volim kad snegom obeli sav
volim ga kad dođe maj,
volim ga kad dođe maj.

Autumn

The 2nd best season in my (humble) opinion. I adore autumn. But just so you know, I like summer even more. After autumn comes spring, and last and definitely least: Winter. In a few weeks, autumn is done with, and the misery begins. Winter. A horrible word. So, in order to make myself a little happier, I've decided to write about autumn now. I'll be writing the pro's and con's, and the cool stuff that happen around this time of year.

Autumn is the time to rake leaves, bring out your winter clothes, start school, and get back into regular gear. No more of the pool every day, no more tanning in the sun, no more chilling out all day. As you've seen in my previous post, my schedule is packed!! Screw relaxing! Here are the top 3 pros of this great season:
  1. Leaves-- Aren't they great? Sure, raking them isn't that much fun. But jumping in them is. And the colours of this season are beautiful! Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Brown! Recently, me and a good friend of mine did a project for school. We chose our landscape to be the fall season, and the finishing result was like no other!
  2. Sports-- You're kicking into high gear once more. Getting caught up on sports inside and outside of school. I, for one, love sports. So starting basketball with Troyka, basketball with the school and other similar activities is cool.
  3. School-- Come to think of it, it is both a pro and a con. It's a pro since you get to see all your friends you didn't get to see during the summer. You also get to start a new and exciting year, as well as doing something away from home, and away from siblings. :) It's a con for all the opposite reasons!! I'll explain a little more in the con category.

Now, here are my top 3 cons of this season. Enjoy!

  1. Winter-- The next season coming up. Autumn is pretty short, and winter seems to last forever. It gets cold, too. Definitely not my favorite thing. But I do like going from boiling hot summer to the perfect amount of chilly. You know, when you go outside one day and think:"Wow, I love this weather! It's the perfect amount of fresh air and chilly.
  2. Busy Busy Busy-- You do definitely get busy at the start of a new school year, yet at the end of the actual full year. Extra and co-curricular activities, activities outside of school, homework, and social life. It gets you super tired at the end of the day, only, if you're like me, to wake up the next day at 6:30 for another responsibility of yours.
  3. School-- I already told you it was both a pro and a con. Here are the bad things about school. No more relaxing, homework covering your desk, and because of the homework and all, no sleep basically! Projects, organizational standards, homework. New school, new markings, new classes. Talk about too much to handle!

Okay, I used up enough space for the pro's and cons. To super quickly finish this up, I am sooo excited! 18 days until my birthday! I am sure to fill you guys in on that soon. Can't wait! I'll have my party 2 days after my actual birthday. We'll be at the movies, watching New Moon. Oh- and Girls Night Out! Not even my dad's gonna be there. (Although my mom will!) I waited literally forever! :)

Tesko verovati

Neki veliki zlatni robot. Nemoj me pitati kako- on nesto radi sa Peter-om i njegovim tatom. :S

Inace, vec smo nakitili kucu. Uzbudjena sam!!

Najvise nevolim: Poznavanje Prirode, Matematiku, Umetnost, i Geografiju. I... Moj raspored. Petkom nemam nista- ZIVOT. Subotom imam basket sa Trojkom, I nedelja je zivot!! Plus sav taj domaci sto imam svaki dan, i plivanje koje ce poceti ubrzo. U F F . Sve drugo je veoma kul, ukljucujuci to sto cemo imati igranku Oktobar 30-i. Bice fenomenalno!

Tata isto ide Cetvrtkom i ponekad Petkom.

P.S. Nemam vise mlecnih zuba! Mira ih je izvukla. Auch.

Wrong in so many ways!

School will start to torture me again for the 8th year. In only 4 days! I know I must, and it's important for my future: but this year's summer: the summer wasn't even qualified to be a summer! That's pretty upsetting.

The reason why is there was so much rain- it wasn't normal! When the constant clouds and precipitation had finally stopped: I was in Toronto, with no more pool. At least all my friends are here, so we could go through the long drive to the beach, or hang around in the parks. I guess that's an up!? I'm making it sound much more worse than it is... I'll admit that much. And the events this summer were fun, exciting and definitely amazing! Mother Nature didn't co-operate, though. But it's way fun seeing my friends before school. I'm always in Montreal too long.

Next topic of discussion: school. Since I already told you all the events for the fabulous year '09... we must speak about the grade 7 first day of school! The entry into junior high- that's big and anticipated. The TTC's, friends, and challenges. Everything's new. We're getting full-length lockers, different teachers for various subjects, and way more extra and co-curricular activities. School will resume, I believe for everyone: September 8th. Oh! How could I forget the uniforms? Sure, I'd much rather have my own clothes, but I'm pretty happy with the uniforms. They were much better than I'd thought. And, I'm pretty confident we won't be late this year. The clothes won't be an issue. Throw on anything, it all matches and LEAVE. My brother and dad are thrilled about this. I kept them late, and I woke up at the same time as dad... Way earlier than Ivan. I don't think it's normal :) Either way, it'll be nice. We should do as many stuff as possible in our lives- and I guess uniforms are a part of something I've never done. That sounds funny. Ha!

I'm surprised. There isn't as much stuff to write about as I'd thought. I think that's normal. I mean, first year- I hardly know anything! But everyone will be up to date, as soon as I can add more details. I really hope this will be soon! Tomorrow morning at 4:00 am, I'll be leaving for camp. It's the same place as last year, in the Algonquin Provincial Park. It'll be great, a lot of my friends will be there. And we'll have tons of fun! I'm pretty sure I'll write about that, too. I mean, well, only time will tell!

Michael Phelps vs. Milorad Cavic

As you all should remember: last year in Peking, Beijing was the 2008 World Olympics. If you don't remember... then you should. If you didn't watch it, then I don't know where you've been! All in all, for male swimming 200 m butterfly, the American Michael Phelps won gold. 1st. And the Serb Milorad Cavic received silver. 2nd. There are so many reasons why that's not right. Here I go...

Sure, we were all disappointed when we found out Cavic lost... he was representing the little, yet simply beautiful and amazing country we call Serbia. But we didn't complain, since the judges were trained professionals. They knew what they were doing. At least that's what we thought. But after a year, they have finally admitted they were wrong! Yet Cavic still didn't receive gold for all his efforts. It was obvious that that he touched the wall sensor first. They even have pictures. But the sensors didn't respond. So, basically Phelps won because of poor technology.

I don't know about any of you reading this, but I am getting really worked up. Cheating, and not working technology, especially in the Worldwide Olympics are not allowed! They have no right to do this! FINA should be changing the results and giving Cavic the gold, but they still did not. Why? Well... I don't know. BUT, keep in mind I'm translating from a Serbian web page! This is harder than you guys think. And yet, Cavic's manager just states that they're done with this story and it's over with! They don't even care about the truth... Anyway, here's the picture proving Phelps did not win gold.

There you have it! Justice is served! Please comment on the pictures here! Please comment on China's last-season technology! Please voice your opinion! This is the place to do so!

P.S. If anyone is a fan of the marijuana-dude Phelps, and feels offended... then that's just too bad. I have the right to voice my opinion. And you'll live with it! :D

Bravo, mama i tata!

Prva stanica: Quebec City. Nek Ana vidi lepotu Kanade, mi smo stvarno... WOW!!

Pozdravljamo svi Gocu, Ivicu i Filipa, i...

CAO ANA!!!

Nikada vise necu ovako zakasniti! Cao!! <3

School's done with!

Hey! Sorry to be a little late on this event... But like they say, it's better late than never. So as you see, today you will find out about my summer-to-be 2009. I won't be talking about middle school or anything related to this. Possibly my class bonding, plans for the best season of all times... And so on. Read on, please.

My class this year was by far my most favorite class yet. We worked as a team, and were there for each other... 24/7. Actually, at the beginning of the school year, we kind of despised each other. The year was going to be a long one since the students has formed groups, we did not know our teacher well... Especially since this is her first time teaching a grade 5/6 class at our school. A grade 5/6 class EVER. So, to be honest, I wasn't too excited, thrilled or anything close. And, before I forget, I don't think any teachers were thrilled about our class.

But look at us today: We are the complete opposite. We went from groups Flippin' Fives and Suckish Sixers... (We are a grade 5/6 split as I mentioned...) to one group: Room 201. So, maybe the teachers are still a pain, but at least we couldn't care less. We were all friends basically, we told each other lots, we had no BIG problems with one another. Occasionally, something came up... But we were good. We were one. Sorry, this sounds cheesy. It's a fact, though. And we were actually sad to leave each other. Sixers change schools, and fivers stay alone. :(

And, then it all came down to one day. The last day of school. June 25th, 2009. 10 seconds before the final bell, we started whispering: "Summer... Summer..." for each second. It became louder and louder. We had been planning this. Then when the bell finally rang, we all yelled: School's OUT!! And then jumped into a group hug. It was awesome. For once, to forget everyone around us, and be who we can't be during school hours. To be the people we know each other to be. And, we were done. We had to move on. New friends, classes, smiles and adventures.

Now, on to happier news. That same day, my cousin from Croatia came over. She's 15... Older than me and my brother, but still family. We hadn't seen each other in a long time. Ever since we moved to Canada, we were 5000 miles apart. (I think.) But, this summer, we had the chance to see each other again. She came over to North America for the first time. It was odd, sure. But exciting.

Odd? How come? Well, it happens to everyone, I suppose. We hadn't seen each other for a long time. It was awkward for someone to come all of a sudden. Someone, well, new. To you at least. And it was different for everyone. But, slowly we had improved, and everyone is getting used to the event. Slowly, we have started having conversations. And, other connection-based stuff. To Dad: I know you want us to be in the same room, talk to each other some more... And, we actually do, a lot more. But, this happens when we're alone. Not really with any adults. Just wanted to let you know. Hope you feel better now. :D

So, we usually go to Montreal every summer. This summer is no different. Although, we will be leaving a little later. Usually, we leave at the end of June, shortly after school ends. This time, we will be taking the time to show my cousin around Toronto. It's her first time here. So why not? It's not like we've been at any tourist attraction for some time, now. We're always away at Montreal. So, for the 14 days in Ontario, we will show her some pretty cool stuff. Everything from the CN tower, to the Zoo, to Marineland, Wonderland, Niagara Falls! Everything. You name it, we've got it planned.

And then, at the beginning of July, we will be going to Montreal. We will stay at our other cousins' place as usual. It will be really nice. They live in a pretty big house, and they have a pool. Our grandparents will be staying in the attached apartment they have. No worries- It's beside their house. And my parents will visit each weekend, as much as possible... So it will be great. My dad is even taking a week off to show my cousin around Quebec. I'm pretty sure I won't like it, I'll love it instead.

Then, for the long weekend at the beginning of August, my parents will be coming to pick up my cousin. She leaves August 5th... So we will have until August 15th to have some time alone. We go back home August 15th, along with our grandparents and other cousins. They will visit us at our place. We'll miss Ana (my cousin), but it'll be nice to know she's going back home. We hope she enjoys Canada, because we're sure she will. We've put a lot of effort into making the trip very AWESOME. Thanks!

The End of a Beginning

Confusing, huh? Well, I'll be talking, or typing to be exact... About my graduation. I've been at my elementary school for like... FOREVER! Ever since I came to Canada 7 years ago, I've been at that very school. And I am now ready to move on to bigger and better... Middle school.

My school has been awesome. I started going there in SK, not knowing a word of English or french. Why french? Well, I was enrolled into french immersion. And I am still in that program today, I love it! My class gets along well together, all the grade 6's are good friends. And these were my friends since SK. Most of the kids from my class will be going to the same middle school. (20/22.) So we'll still be together, kind of. Because now, we have different classes and lockers, and other schools will also be joining our middle school. It's going to be VERY different.

So, in honor of our completion of elementary school, we're having a graduation. Not like the one you have in grade 12, a little less fancy. It's semi-formal. But we still give out awards, and certificates of completion, and there will be lots of refreshments.

The awards are confidential until the day of. They come up and present them at the ceremony. The only award you get to know earlier is the Valedictorian., since the person must make a speech, and notice in advance would be needed for this one... :D. I'm really excited because the chosen french valedictorian is me! I made a speech, in french of course, and I think it's actually impressive!

School's out in 4 days, (June 25th) and grad is always the Monday before school's over. I'm actually pretty nostalgic to be leaving elementary school. Okay, I'm happy, ready, mature, and excited. But, this is a big part of my childhood. And I've accomplished so much at the school. From 2 school-wide speech arts, to 2 school-wide spelling bees, a qualification to a regional Canwest Canspell Bee, and a grade 5 Mosely Award. What's next to come?

Before I finish up, I'd like to mention one more special thing. My grad present. I got all-around speakers for my I-Pod touch from my family. I was so happy! In case they didn't get it, or fully understand... It's on the Internet forever. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE YOU GUYS! As a card, I got a really nice quote. It states:

"Keep on learning Maja,
Though your graduation's done;
Your whole life's and education
That has only just begun.
Your graduation is the first big step,
For knowledge is the special key
To earning what you want in life
And being who you want to be.
If you'll always be a student,
You'll find the secrets to success
And travel on the golden road
To peace and happiness."
Today is the end of a beginning, but the beginning of a never-ending journey. Happy Graduation Class of 2008-2009!!!

Prolecni Koncert 2009

A malo pre toga, sam osvojila drugo mesto u skolskem takmicenju.

Bili smo srecni...Ne srecni, nego presrecni!

Uzivajte!!

2009 Ontario Basketball Provincials

Chatham, Ontario. U10 boys. It was hectic!! There were teams from all across Ontario competing for their provincial places among their divisions. Divisions 1,2 and 3. With boys all over the place, teams shouting every which way and constant games being played, it was so much to take in but yet so, so much fun! Let's start from the begginning of my story...

4 years ago, i joined Troyka. A serbian basketball club. With the past results, my parents signed me up. I was to shoot my first basket, learn my first lay-up, and be happy playing sports for the first time. My dad dedicated lots of time ot teach my brothers, and my team. Eventually, all the hard work and practise payed off. I improved tons. House League was fun. Being 2nd; 3rd and just last year: 1st in the House League.

And finally, all our hard work payed off. Although there was no female team for my age group, there was a male team for my brother's age group. And, he was lucky to be amongst the 12 boys who made it. I was so happy. My brother had some games, some more, and more. Audience was surprised. This was the first year that this Troyka team had joined the Basketball Association. And after good games and bad, our first tournament was held. Not a major one, but a pretty cool one. They finished 4th overall from 12. That was superb for a first!!

And, countless games and practises were held before the major tournament we just held in April. In Chatham, Ontario there was the Ontario U10 (age-under 10) Basketball Tournament. Everybody has worked really hard to be amongst the 12 teams who participated. And so has Troyka. So after hours of driving to the hotel all the teams were to stay at, we were all ready to be settled in. But then we saw the ginormous line of guests. Great! This might take some time, we thought. But eventually, we made it. We settled into room 914.

But that was the boring part. We explored a little. Then came the games. First game; that very night. Against the Missisauga Minors. This team was well-organized, and well prepared. But no match for B.C. Troyka. We beat them by approzimately 15-20 points. At least we were not to lose all the games! Next, we had a morning game against the Burlington Skyhawks. This team had good defense and speed, but lacked focus every now and then. We beat them as well. This was going great... They had already made it to the quarterfinals!

I have to take some credit, our audience was phenomenal! We had clappers, maracas, blow-up banging things, tamborines, and LOUD whistlers. We were screaming, cheering our team to perfection. And now, the next game was against the BJCC Eagles. Last time, we had lost by a basket, because we were tired. But we were ready for this one. Sadly, we lost by half a basket, (In the quarterfinals...)1 point. Either way, we were all still very proud. We were still 1st in our division! Now we were to go against an easier opponent from another pool. So we danced and clapped and had the time of our lives that night. We were headed to the semi-finals.

Next morning, semi-finals. Against KW Vipers. In the last tournament I mentioned, they have gotten third place... They better be ready for revenge. Although our hopes were down a little, they got lifted as the game began. And, through anxiety, losing voices, and hope... WE WON!! We had made it to the finals. A game far beyond our expectations. With this win, the team had created a new layer of confidence. We were all tremendously proud as well.

And for the final, we played against the Toronto Triple Threat. We had beat them once, and they had beat us once. This was going to be a close game. But no matter how close the game was, or how hard we all played, we had lost. By one basket. But still had third place to win! Hold your horses, not before ambulance has cleared. From an early virus, and all this anxiety, I had fainted. Everybody was pouring water on my face, and concidentally, a First Aid lady was there to help me. They had called 9-1-1. After some time in the hospital, everybody was worried. But, I came out fine. I just didn't attend the last game. NO way was I to faint again.

So I stayed at home, ate, watched TV and hoped for the best. Fast forward, some of the players came back and knocked on room 914. They had to make sure I was O.K. Well, I was. And I told them the whole story. And then they told me theirs. They were all freaked out. And... The anticipating news... THEY HAD WON!!!!! I was super proud and glad. We were to all meet at Kelsey's later that night to celebrate.

We may not have won firts place, but we had won third. Beautiful medals, they were. We have created new friendships, learned new techniques, experienced the unexpected. All from an audience member fainting, to making it to third. Our highest expectations were the quarter finals. And as always, the team had impressed us. We have more trust in each other, and are ALL closer than ever. We are now walking around with our heads held high, and smiles on our faces. We shall continue to practice, and try our hardest. For we are ready for the next season. Of happiness, unexpectations, medals, and definetely friends. To basketball! To TROYKA!!

P.S. In the video enclosed, you will see some of the games, we are the players in the blue and white jerseys.

The Twilight Saga

A new teenage collection by Stephenie Meyer... A major hit everywhere... A have-to read for every teenager. Well, I'll tell you some cool stuff about my opinions and about the collection. It includes 4 books, all of which I am proud to own. Twilight, (1st book) New Moon, (2nd book) Eclipse, (3rd book and the one I am just about done) and last but not least: Breaking Dawn (4th book and last book for now.)

At the beginning, I thought it was some kind of nonsense. But then a friend of mine bought me the book for my birthday. And since I was out of books to read.... I decided to give it a shot. And... as my eyes set on the very first page... I fell in love. Stephenie Meyer puts such detail into her books it is like we are a character from the story. She adds this magic touch to all her characters and creates an illusion, a very powerful one, too. So as I sadly finished the first book, I decided I must absolutely read on. And that is how I started a new journey into the town of Forks, Washington. The town in the story.

The main characters are Isabella Swan, Bella as everyone calls her. Edward; the mysterious guy she has a crush on and later starts dating as well as figures out he is a vampire. And Jacob Black; an old family friend she looks to for support when her life seems all messed up. And as you figured, every guy in her new town of Forks likes her. The other characters throughout the saga are: the 4 siblings of Edward. Alice and Emmett Cullen as well as Rosalie and Jasper Hale. His "parents" Carlisle and Esme Cullen and Bella's and Jacob's fathers Charlie Swan and Billy Black. Bella's friends and soon-to-be enemies as well appear often in the story. This book is full of confusion and love, as well as terror and sympathy. Ideal combinations. :P

Even though the story may get weird at some points and cool at others, overall it is an addicting collection of books. Blooming more and more everyday. Changing the world little by little.

Onda, posle svakog deteta, uciteljica izbroji tvoj u prosecnu ocenu. Jer ti svi u ucionici daju ocenu.

Ja sam isto stigla do GTA takmicenje spelovanja i dobila sam drugo mesto u govoru... Ja sam sasvim srecna ovako, vise mi nista netreba.

Countdown...

Remember my post from last year about Dancing with the Stars?

Well, after another long season and Brooke Burke winning with the choreography of Derek Hough, I couldn't wait for the spring season to start again! And now, my countdown has started yet one more time. With the season starting March 9th, I have precisely 10 days to go.

This year, we have the following participants: Lil' Kim with Derek Hough; Steve-O with Lacey Schwimmer; Nancy O'Dell with Tony Dovolani; Lawrence Taylor with Edyta Sliwinska; Shawn Johnson (OMG- I know!!) with Mark Ballas; Chuck Wicks with Julianne Hough; Gilles Marini with Cheryl Burke; Denise Richards with Maksim Chmerkovskyi; Steve Wozniak with Karina Smirnoff; Belinda Carlisle with Jonathan Roberts; David Alan Grier with Kym Johnson; Ty Murray with Chelsie Hightower; and last but not least: Jewel with Dmitry Chaplin.

What do these stars do for a living? Here you have it! Lil' Kim is a female rapper, singer, and actress. Steve-O is a reality star. Nancy O'Dell is an anchor for Access Hollywood. Lawrence Taylor is a football legend. Shawn Johnson (she's the one everybody loves... ) is a Beijing 2008 Olympic gold medalist for gymnastics. Chuck Wicks is a country singer. Gilles Marini is an actor, along with Denise Richards and David Alan Grier. Steve Wozniak is the apple co-founder and a philanthropist. Ty Murray is a rodeo athlete and Jewel is a singer-songwriter.

What makes this interesting this season is that there are 3 couples competing!! Julianne Hough is partnered with her boyfriend Chuck Wicks, while Maksim Chmerkovskyi is engaged to Karina Smirnoff. Jewel and Ty Myrray are husband and wife, as well. The 3 judges are once again Len Goodman the head judge, along with Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. The hosts are also once again Samantha Harris and Tom Bergeron. The competitivity is great and the dances and problems are awesome, too. I cannot describe to you how impatient I am, it's beyond words.

The season is starting on ABC March 9th at 8/7 central. For more information visit abc.go.com and click on the DWTS icon. I will be happily cheering away for Shawn Johnson out of the females and Chuck Wicks from the males. Now, coming to an end, as usual, I have 1 last thing.

Go... DWTS!!

:) Please comment on my happiness... :)

4 day FUN!!

Me and my brother had a 4-day weekend from school. Why? Because on Friday, it was P.A. Day (professional activity day, meaning all the teachers have an all-day meeting, and are not able to teach the students, so there is no school.) Then, there was... everybody's favorite: THE WEEKEND!! Saturday and Sunday; our days to enjoy no homework, chill, hang out and sleep. Monday, today, is Family Day and, in order to spend time with our families, we have no school today either. So here's how we spent our 4 days of FUN!!

On Friday, me and my brother were at home, doing homework all morning and working on our parents' secret anniversary present. Afterwards, we just played around and did nothing in particular after that. At 2:00, my brother had a dermatology appointment. And after that, we ran some small errands and went home to prepare our stuff and clothes for the 5-hour drive to Montreal to see our cousins and grandparents for the weekend. Then, me and my mom watched some TV, while my brother played with his Bakugans. As soon as my dad came back from work, we started our long trip.

Now, I know I am a little late, but I'd still like to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day!! Valentines Day is a day to spend with your loved ones. Show them you care. And this Valentines Day, I spent with my grandparents, aunt, uncle, parents, brother, and cousins. A pretty big bunch, I would say. We had tons of fun. I was here, in Montreal, from Friday evening until today. I really liked hanging around here on Valentines Day with my family.

It was also my parents anniversary. Me and my brother along with our cousin, were playing it cool while we were planning a belated presentation that will soon make them cry from all that laughter. So I would love to wish them publicly a VERY happy 12th anniversary!

My dad, uncle, brother, cousins and I also went for an attempt to sled. Unfortunately, our area where we were going to sled has closed because it was too dangerous to sled onto the ice that has become thin during the night. So, we visited a frozen lake instead. The ice was pretty thick where we were, so we slided, spun, and did all kinds of fun stuff. It was awesome. But a little further, on the ice where there used to be tons of shacks on the ice for ice fishing, and cars and all that stuff, even electricity poles (!!!) was now starting to melt, so in an attempt to go to their shacks or sheds, we witnessed 2 cars getting stuck in the ice. It was funny and very cold.

On Sunday, we hung out and had some fun just hanging around. We played on the DS, on the computer, we watched Space Buddies, and did all that kind of stuff. Witch was actually very fun to just chill. We caught up on some homework, too.

Now, today, my cousins school had a ``Walk-a-thon`` where his whole school walked 2 km for an event in sports week. Sports week is going to be full of fun activities to represent fitness and health. So my aunt volunteered and we joined her. It was actually pretty cool. Afterwards, we went home and I watched Soccer Mom, as well as write this blog post and and do some more homework.

In addition for me, I have a 5-day weekend... Sort of. Tomorrow, I wont be attending school since I have a volleyball tournament. We are to be back very late, and leave at approximately 9:30-ish am. I cant wait... Especially since my ankle that I hurt on Monday is getting much better in time for the tournament. Well, wish my team luck tomorrow.

Thanks!!

Youpi!!!!!!!!!!!

I bili smo fantasticni!!

On nam je pricao o repu malo i o njegovom zivotu.

The Marlies!!

Although I am no particular hockey fan, I do enjoy field trips away from school. So I was thrilled to find out that my class was going on a field trip to the Ricoh Coliseum the 11th.

There's going to be approximately 7000 students there. I can't wait!!

You see, my class is the kind of class that is far from perfect. We are very unique and special in our way. We are loud, we are funny, we are leaders... And we are who we are. The coolest thing about my class is our relationship. We bond. All my classmates and I are like one big family... We basically share everything. Not that I can compare it to my actual family. It's just that we have something no other class in our school has. Everybody knows us and the ones who know us best LOVE us. Others are overly annoyed with our behavior and noise. But it's the really annoying and mean teachers... The ones we don't like that much either... So it's fine both ways. And it's going to be a memorable field trip... Positive!!

3 other classes are joining us. So about 100 students from our school will be attending the game. We can make banners to encourage the Marlies, and all the money for the field trip goes to a good cause. A portion of all the money goes to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success. And the Parent Council is paying $4.35 cents for each of us. We will pay the other $12 dollars. So that's basically what we will be doing on February the 11th.

Only one more thing to say.... GO MARLIES!!

P.S. Izvinite sto pisem ovoliko na engleskom... Sledeci put ce biti na srpskom. :)

Bzzz... A one of a kind bee

Have you ever heard of a Spelling Bee? Those competitions that have to do with spelling? Well, if not, you will now.

All junior classes as well as mine, have taken a part in the school wide Spelling Bee. Our school has taken a part in the Canwest Canspell Spelling Bee. So basically, some kid from our school will represent us in a live Spelling Bee on TV!! That is... If they qualify.

I will explain to you now all the steps. Firstly, every kid from grades 4,5, and 6 will have time to study approximately 1150 words for the class wide spelling bee on Monday, the 12th of January. That is the day that the class wide Spelling Bees will be held. Afterwards, the top 2 spellers from every class will study again for the school wide Spelling Bee on Wednesday, the 14th of January. The winner from the school will receive a trophy as well as a chance to try out for the Regional Spelling Bees as the representer of our school. For a kid to make it that far, you will need to qualify once more and then you can spell. On TV. Against other schools. If you are the top or in the top 2 spellers, you will win 5 000 dollars, afterwards, you can go to Provincials. If you are truly amazing, you can then go to Ottawa to participate with others from across Canada. Then you can I believe, if you are in the top 3, win MORE money and go to Washington, DC for a place in the competition, where you will be competing with others from across North America.

A pretty long, exhausting, but ridiculously amazing journey, right?

Well, to find out I was my class representant along with my friend Corinna... Well, I was beyond happy. It was nerve racking, fun and so cool. Corinna and I worked and practiced our hearts out in only 2 days. Afterwards, came our big shot. THE SCHOOL WIDE SPELLING BEE.

I was the least nervous, I bet, since I have already competed in Grade 4. Now, in Grade 6... I can feel the tension. It was awesome. Slowly, one by one, my competitors disappeared. It was only between Lauren and me. She was a good speller, I do admit... But fate and truth arrived when... She got the word "palette" wrong!!

I was overwhelmed, happy, proud and everything in between when I realized I was the Top Speller in my school. Yay me!

I now have to qualify for the regional to represent my school. I am doing the test the 22nd... I have already sent in my picture, my personal information, and a reflection as well as a response sheet asking me to fill in questions such as "What was your favorite word?" "How did you study?" "Tell us about your family" and so on. I am proud and full of joy as I type right now.

Thanks to my friends, who were very supportive along the way. They cheered me on and saw me almost get a word wrong as well as win the Spelling Bee. They are amazing, now, then and always. I couldn't have asked for a better audience. Hey, as you must know... My family was a big part. They encouraged me as well, and gave love like no other can. Thanks to everyone from my relatives in Serbia to relatives in America to relatives in Montreal.

Me and my family celebrated at my favorite restaurant: Mandarin. It was fun and very cool.I hope this adventure lasts. Even if it does not, I am more happy than I ever thought I could be. I'll also always have memories. 2 certificates, a trophy, a screen scratch on my phone... (Thanks, mom!) and my mind.

Wish me luck...

The 500-pieced adventure

A while ago, me and my family completed a 500-pieced puzzle.

It took us approximately 3 and a half hours to finish it, and we basically worked our hearts out. It was tons of fun, and each piece was like an adventure of its own... We learned something throughout each piece... And only to finish with more knowledge. We learned more on how to work together, how to be a good team.

Me and my brother work much quicker nowadays...Because of that one puzzle that really made us think. To top it off, it was a puzzle for a good cause. The puzzle was a Unicef puzzle. See, we were happy doing it, we learned, and the puzzle was very unique in so many ways.

Firstly, it was a Unicef puzzle. Secondly, it was a CIRCULAR puzzle... Not a square. Thirdly, the design is wonderful. It is half day, half night, with lots of world wonders drawn around it. Everything from the Mosque, to the CN tower and everything in between. It was fun and awesome... What more could you want??

I liked the puzzle and even though it is now in its original box, I know it's perfectly cool with me. It had to end up in there eventually...But most of all, I have a new love for puzzles!!

Open YOUR hearts!!

I just came back from downtown.

My mom, aunt, grandpa, brother, 2 cousins and I attended a kind of festival. It can't exactly translate properly into English, but it's kind of like "The Street of Open Hearts."

There were hearts all over the place, red balloons, everything!! The point of the festival was to raise money for charity. You could buy food, drinks, toys and so on and all the proceeds go to charity. There was a particularly neat idea I'd like to let you know about. You could buy a clown nose and, once again, all proceeds go to charity. But the reason they were clown noses was also to promote happiness and laughter for the new year... 2009!

From 2008 - Beograd

Speaking of which, I'd like to wish you all the best New Year!! I hope your year is full of happiness, laughter, and love.

But back to the heart festival. There were clowns, horses, music, everything you could want.

From 2008 - Beograd

The music was neat because for half the time, it was rock. Meaning drums, guitar (both electric and acoustic) backup singing and all. The other part was full of symphony-style music. Meaning tubas, baritones, trumpets, trombones, base and snare drums, and clarinets.

We have lots of pictures, and wonderful memories. I was really satisfied and pleased with the way things turned out. But I was just as surprised at the number of people who showed up! I can bet you they sold at least 300 clown noses!! It was a busy place.

Afterwards, we headed to a street called "Skadarlija."

In Serbian, rice pudding is called "Sutlijas." And here's a funny story. The day before I tried the heavenly food we call "Rice Pudding," I was reading my grandpa's shirt that had written really famous streets in Serbia. One of them were, as you must have guessed, "Skadarlija." So when they told me the Serbian name of rice pudding, I kept on mixing up the 2 words. Shortly, my parents, brother, aunt and almost all my closest relatives started calling it "Skadarlija" as well. And we still do today. So that's the Skadarlija story.

And after 3 years of calling it that, and never seeing the actual street, itself, I saw it today. It was really old-fashioned and interesting. I liked it.

But don't make me mention the cold today. I froze like a popsicle, literally! But that's another story :)

Srećna Nova Godina (Hor "Čarolija")
